Everyone gets angry out of the blue from time to time for a variety of reasons. For example, people become angry when their needs aren’t met or when they are betrayed. It can also be caused by witnessing injustices, whether it is happening to the person who is angry or to someone else who is making them angry. Also, anger is not an emotion to be feared or suppressed, as these so-called gurus of positivity suggest.
The Gurus Are Wrong About Anger Despite What We Know About It
It is normal to be angry if someone intentionally lies to you, or if you were up all night with a sick child, and then suddenly, someone asks for a favor from you. Suddenly, someone needs you to do something for them when you have no energy for caring for your child. You will snap. There’s a sign right there that your needs are not being met, and you’re very depleted. Helping someone else when you’re exhausted is the last thing you should do.
Therefore, telling anyone not to be angry is like telling them not to be hungry! It’s impossible! Anger is a normal emotion. However, anger usually passes quickly.
